What is mindfulness to you?
To me, mindfulness is just a word; but it points to the healing experience of connecting with the totality of the present moment.
How do you use mindfulness in your work, research, or practice?
I have my PhD in behavioral neuroscience with experience ranging from human MRI studies to animal models of learning and memory. In my lab at ASU, I primarily focus on understanding aging in adults with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). I also conduct intervention studies with Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction to better understand the brain changes associated with symptom improvements in various clinical populations.
