Mindful writing group

The Mindful Writing Group (MWG) initiative was founded in 2019 by Center affiliates Drs. Dara James and Tara Bautista. The program fosters the careers of mindfulness scholars and brings mindfulness practices to all interested professionals. Groups provides networking, resources, and training for anyone within 10 years of their terminal degree (student or professional) interested in studying or practicing mindfulness anywhere in the world. 

Dr. Rebecca Eliseo-Arras, Associate Professor and Academic Coordinator in the School Human Services at Empire State University and ASU Center for Mindfulness, Compassion and Resilience Affiliate serves as manager of the Mindful Writing Group (MWG). All MWG session are open to doctoral students, postdoctoral scholars/fellows, early career academics, and any academic-oriented individual with an interest to attend!

  • 120-minute sessions
  • sharing of writing goals/intentions
  • guided opening mindfulness practice
  • individual writing time
  • group discussion on mindfulness and goals
  • guided closing mindfulness practice

All sessions are hosted online via Zoom.
